Built on the 1144 site of the original prison, The Clink Prison Museum takes visitors on a tour through what was perhaps England’s oldest prison. Situated on the south bank of the river, which was home to much of London’s shadier entertainments, such as bull-baiting, bear-baiting and rowdy inns, the notorious Clink Prison was a place of darkness and intrigue.
Visitors to the museum enjoy a uniquely hands-on experience, with the opportunity to examine original artefacts and hear the chilling re-telling of the inmates’ stories. With the prison’s colourful history, and links to some of the greatest plots in London’s history, it is not surprising to hear some visitors report of strange goings-on and unexplained events of the paranormal…
